Default CPU (RTAS) increases to 85+ % after session is running

Hi everyone, recently I have noticed that my PT8 sessions have been maxing out without warning. I am currently working on several songs and when I open one the CPU (RTAS) meter is around 60%, after working on the song for a 10 minutes (more or less) the meter increases to 85+ and I need to close and reopen the session to reset it. And the problem just happens again after several minutes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Info:
I an running approx 32 tracks of audio all which are consolidated.
Some automation.
I have defragmented all my partitions.
I have followed all the Optimizing Windows for audio steps.
No other programs are running (except for Focusrite Liquid Mix on a second/separate firewire card). Please note that I had been using Liquid Mix for 6 months without any issue, before this started happening so I don't think it is the issue.

Some specs:

Windows XP SP3
Pentium 4, 3ghz, 2gigs Ram
single processor
2 separate hard drives (1 for programs, 1 for audio).
Digidesign 002
Protools 8.03

Are you using SansAmp or Reel Tape or any other Plug-in that may be causing denormalization?

Hey guys,

Here are responses to the ablove

1) I just switched to 8.03 yesterday.

2) Yes I used SansAmp in one of the songs (the first time I have ever used sansAmp), but this was 2 days ago. This issue has been happening for several weeks.

Paul, does resetting your playback buffer to do the same thing as a restart?

You are using a P4. As Key is saying, a P4 is probably not enough CPU to be running 8x. With every new version, the load on the CPU usually gets higher.

Post a Sandra Report as per the General Troubleshooting sticky above and try the suggestions contained in that post too.

Cheers,
