32 Track Limitation
I make pretty complex beats and I've already reached my 32 track capacity for one of my new sessions. I work mostly with mono tracks but I do make use of some stereo samples. I haven't even laid vox or my midi yet. I could only afford the Mbox mini and I didn't realize how limited I'd be from the jump.
I've read about a program called ReWire that works well with Pro Tools, but I'm not sure how that can help me. Any suggestions on how I can make the most of, or economically get around, my 32 track limit without sacrificing the flexibility of my drum mixes and crucial, two channel samples? Thanks. Jim |

Re: 32 Track Limitation
The simplest would be the Music Production Toolkit. It allows up to 48 stereo or mono tracks, and comes with some nice plugs too. There are other options using Rewire and other programs, but I'll let others give those recommendations as I have little experience with that.

Re: 32 Track Limitation
It sounds like you are using audio tracks for everything. If some of your stuff is Keyboards or MIDI in nature you could use softsynths in Reason, Samplitube, etc. Those use Instrument Tracks rather than audio tracks, which saves you voices (tracks). Even ProTools XPand Synth is pretty cool and it's free! You can still use your outboard sound modules as Aux inputs and control them via MIDI, so it's all in realtime. If you are indeed using real live audio for all your music, then your only option would be the Producer's Tool Kit. Good Luck!

Re: 32 Track Limitation
Bounce your beats down and make the original tracks inactive. That should free up about 30 tracks or so

Re: 32 Track Limitation
These are all great recommendations! Thanks, everybody. It reassures me to know that Midi won't need Audio tracks.
I'm also interested in this Music Production Tool Kit. Is the price reasonable? Do I buy it from a store or is there a site to download it? |
