Mbox as \'standalone\' mic / instrument pre\'s
Hi,
It would be useful to me if I could use my mbox 1 as a 'standalone' mic/instrument pre, without computer at all. For example, I'd like to connect a microphone to some guitar effects pedals, or connect a guitar to a line level processor, etc. I've done something similar to this in the past, by connecting an mbox to an extra pc, using the mbox inputs and the trs insert outputs. Worked great! So now, I'd like to do this trick without using a whole computer as a dc power source. Can this be accomplished by connecting an appropriate DC power source to the correct usb pins on the mbox? Yes, I know there's many real dc-powered preamps (art, presonus, etc) , but it would be more clever and cheap to use the mbox that I have. Has anyone done this, and if so, could you tell me what the specs for the power source should be? Thanks, Greg |

Re: Mbox as \'standalone\' mic / instrument pre\'s
this has been covered before, someone made the genius suggestion of getting a poweed USB hub, and you're in.
