Default Writing to cd?

Hey guys,

If I am trying to burn all of my files onto a cd, say to take to another studio for mixing or to give to a client for additional mixing, what type of cd would I need to get and how would I go about buring it all on there. Also, what type of cd would I get and how would I burn if I was going to send a finished stereo mix to a mastering engineer? CD-R?

Default Re: Writing to cd?

The answer is CD-R to both questions. You'd write a 'data' format CD to save the Pro Tools session, and you'd write an 'audio' format CD for the mastering studio. However, if you're recording in 24 bit you might want to send 24 bit mixes to the mastering engineer so he's got higher quality to work with, in which case you'd send a 'data' format CD with wav's or aiff's on, but you should check with your mastering studio first to see what they'd prefer to receive from you.
