Default Noise on insert 002R

Hello, i recorded a woman the other day, and noticed that i had a noise on the insert when using an effect with a spectrumanalysis tool.
So i had a microphone connected to insert 1 (XLR) on the 002. I removed the microphonecable and muted my 002, then turned up the gain and i had a serious problem around 50Hz. Between 44-54Hz to be more specific. Around -90 to -60dB when the gain was on 0.
So i started experimenting and i depressed the LINE/INST button and the noise got weaker but it was still there. I then pressed LINE/INST and turned the gain up to 12 o clock and the noise was now around -40 to -30 DB.
So i tried to reverse the phase on my power source. I have all my studioequipment connected to the same output from the wall. I live in Sweden and we have AC power here.
But the noise persists. I changed the input on the channel in PT to S/PDIF with the same result.
When the mic is connected (Ehrlund EHR-M) i get a more fragmented noise curb in the analyzing tool and some more noise around 20-30dB.
In both cases the noise spans across the whole spectrum, and ofcourse the 002 has some noise when blasting away to full gain, but my noise has to be some disturbance (in the force) somwhere.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to try?

Thanks in advance

/Christer

When you say "insert", do you mean a hardware insert(send from 002 to hardware device and return to an input of the 002) or do you mean a plugin insert? Noise at 50Hz sounds like a ground loop, since 50Hz is the AC frequency for Europe(I believe). I would try disconnecting everything from the 002 except firewire(so you can run PT) and a set of headphones. If that is quiet, then start re-connecting things and check after each piece is reconnected. If you can trace the hum to 1 device, then you may be able to solve the noise by modifying your cables. For instance, balanced lines can have the shield disconnected at one end to solve a ground loop. Or you can by isolation transformers(like the Sescom IL-19) to isolate devices.

Hello Mr.Bee, its my 1st input on the 002, i connected the mic with an XLR and turned up the gain on the preamp, and there was noise.

Mr Bee Anyway, how far up did you turn the GAIN knob? Is it the same on 2,3&4? What microphone is it? It still could be many things so hopefully someone else will have a better idea than me. I take it, your XLR cable has XLR connectors at both ends?

Would you prefer Mr.HoneyBee?

XLR in both ends *check*
Gain knob turned all the way up with master/monitor gain 0
I was just watching the EQ and saw the curb there, now from some more testing everything sounds really strange.
I´ll post some sounds that i got from pushing my 4 preamps all the way up 1 at the time.

Ill post a PT.session and hopefully someone can figure something out.

I turned my 002 in for repair today.
Will post whatever errors the guy finds if someone is interested or is experiencing similar issues.
