Default Progressively Worse 7.3--Digi Support ReadThis!!!!

7.1 on my G5-perfect.

7.1.1 with Mbox2 on Macbook--not perfect but workable.

7.1.3 with Mbox2 Pro on Macbook--buggy as all hell

7.3 with Mbox2 Pro on macbook--

Can't open new tracks. sometimes.

BFD Outputs unavailable for audio track input. Sometimes.

Audio Tracks unable to be record enabled when the (sometimes available) BFD outputs are assigned. At all. Bus assigned tracks cannot be record enabled either.

Therefore, 7.3 unworkable.

someone please fix this. I would like to continue to work without rolling back to previous versions.
Thanks.

He's moving ("bumping") the topic back to the top of the forum since no one has replied yet.

From "Pro Tools 7.3 doesn't work well on my machine" to "Therefore, 7.3 unworkable"

That's a leap of Titanic proportions.

Is there any chance at all that your system isn't configured properly?

The usual starting point seems to be :

Make sure all ( that's all!) plugins are up to date and intel-compatible. Your trouble seems to have started at the point of moving to an intel based Mac...

Also, there is a cs1 release of 7.3 already.. Have you tried that?

My plug ins (and everything else) worked fine the day before the 7.3 update on my macbook, and it was all configured properly. No "leap" here--7.3 never worked, but 7.1.3 was passable.

I rolled back to 7.1.3 so that it would all work, and I am waiting for a cs update that addresses more than memory locations.

Sorry maybe that wasn't the best way to word things.

7.3 has worked very well on all of our systems and by and large we wretch things around fairly aggressively.

We did do a "complete clean" install which I know the lack of has caused some 7.3 issues and we did have some older plugs that were giving grief. All of that and of course the usual suspects (pitch data bases, pitch preferences, ran applejack, verify and repair permissions, a new driver here and there) but so far very stable and in fact my room has not yet crashed. Knocking on wood.

I suspect your problem lies elsewhere in your setup (maybe dating back before your 7.1 and 7.3 was a catalyst for more problems) I can assure you that 7.3 is at least workable as a release if not far better (time will tell about the far better).

Perhaps focus your attention on what might be causing 7.3 to be so finicky and less on the umbrella that 7.3 is simply "not workable"

I understand your point...and will still be patiently awaiting another update. I get about 6-8 hours a week that I can sit down and work due to my day job (retail is time consuming, especially in december). I guess I'm just bitter because rather than getting anything done this week, I spent that time trying to figure out what was wrong and getting it to work rather than tracking. And then went back to work the next day and sold Digi gear.

Rolling back fixed it though, so maybe this week I can actually use the gear I bust my ass for.
