Default PT10 on OSX10.8 - Firewire410 has VANISHED?

Hello comrades,

Recently updated to Mountain Lion and have been running a FW410 with PT10LE with no problems.

Out of the blue, ProTools no longer recognizes the FW410 anywhere in the I/O Setup. It's operating fine for system audio but is not available in PT.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the OSX 10.7 driver package from M-Audio (since there's no 10.8) following the installation instructions to the T.

Before you tell me that the FW410 is not supported by OSX 10.8, let me reiterate that I've been running the interface problem-free for a few months now.

How can the device suddenly disappear in PT? Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?

Thanks!

Just want to be clear on this; you updated the OS and things worked for a while, but then stopped? Or did the 410 stop working at the same time as the update? If things were working and then quit, what is new or different with the computer? Is it connected to the web and allowed to update automatically? That could have done it. Did you install any new software or hardware? Personally, I never update ANYTHING without having a way to revert back. Time Machine might be a great solution(but you have to use it BEFORE making updates). Have you tried holding the N key while opening Pro Tools to see if you can select the 410 as the audio engine? Could you possibly set it up as an aggregate device? Got my fingers crossed that you find a solution
