What you are referring to is an add-on board that can be purchased for installation inside a Nitris DX. I do not know if the acceleration provided by that board is available to Pro Tools v11 when playing back AVC video.

Does pt11 work natively with MXF? Can you bounce to mxf? That would be good news for me.

Probably not, but the point I was making was that no CODEC will be accelerated by PT11 alone.

Yes, one of the biggest features touted by Avid and advertised pretty much everywhere since it was announced! Don't think you can bounce to MXF - stick it in an NLE!

OK, let's not get lost in the semantics. How about just optimized? (as in doesn't look bad, and plays back smoothly)

Bottom line is - what looks great in PT 10, looks like crap in PT 11.
Same vid, same session, same everything.

So this new Avid video engine is so far a complete bust
Unless someone can tell me what the "magic" codec or settings are.

I just read this whole thread, Its great too. Lots of good info hidden in here for post.

Unfortunately seems like you have some bad mojo with your system. Sounds like one of those isolated wacky things. As no one else has posted or experienced what your talking about so far. Have you upgraded QT? Per haps that may tweak something. or reinstall codecs. delete QT preferences.

dont know what it could be sounds weird. Id start from scratch with the system. Or buy a black magic card and say good by to crappy looking video and make your life much easier.

Also shouting out your problems in these forums usually gets you no reply from the ones who know PT well.

I can reproduce this. Haven't use 11 for a real work yet, but I tried this with PT10 sessions and at least H.264 looked very blurry in 11.01 compared 10.3.6.
Tested with rMBP 2.6Ghz 16Gb. OSX 10.8.4

Read it again, slowly this time .... same session and vid with 10 is great, with 11 it's crap.

Not sure exactly what "bad mojo" is, I'm not running a Mojo

The forum is littered with video problems in 11, hardly isolated to my system.
And I know PT very well.

Are you running 11 with video and no issues?
If so post your codec/settings/config.
If not .....

You can clearly see the comparison w/10 being better on your machine?

I fear this is just the way the video engine is in 11 ..... that will really suck.

Thanks for confirming it,
kasper

Movie in 10 looks just like with QTPlayer or with Digital Performer. The same video in 11 is muddy/unsharp. Very clear difference.
But(!), I only tested couple of sessions with H.264 (which may not the best format for PT, but looked sharp with PT10).
