Re: Favorite, Least Favorite Tom Petty Album
They all suck... I will never figure out why Sirius Satellite waste a whole channel on him

Re: Favorite, Least Favorite Tom Petty Album
Whatever floats ya boat – I’d prefer to listen to the musicality of "Jim" Keltner’s drumming – or catch Tom or Bob’s wink of a lyric - any day – compared with some of today’s fodder , which sometimes comprises of nothing more than totally repetitive disco rhythms that can’t pay homage to the joy of dynamics. As to Tom and has mates’ hit songs – perhaps it’s the feel, as well as the melodies, harmonies and vocal-blending – that projected these folk to fame and fortune. But we’re both right and wrong, ‘cos what a boring old world it would be (if we all liked the same sort of stuff) …

I never liked him when I was younger, but now for sure I appreciate his talent and his music

Re: Favorite, Least Favorite Tom Petty Album
I wasn't a huge fan when I was younger either. Of course I knew about all of his big hits, but some of my favorite songs now are the more obscure stuff. Not being a long-time fan, I am probably behind the curve on what all of his material is out there. Yesterday I came across a 3-CD set (don't know if it is an official release or a bootleg) called The Filmore West. The band played a 20 performance "residency" at the Filmore West in 1997, and this performance was the last. It was broadcast over the radio, so perhaps that is the source of the CD set. Over 40 songs, including many covers, lasting over 3 hours! The 3rd CD is the Encore they played, lasting 11 songs (assuming whomever put the CDs together had the true set list and was honest about the song order).
