Default 6 second lag when audio track is armed to record...

When I arm an audio track to record then push record it takes up to 6 seconds to start recording, and same to play back the recording if the track is still armed. Midi seems to record with no lag. I'm running Pro Tools 2019.6 on Windows 10 and record to an external drive always. My PC has 8GB RAM.
Thinking of buying an Avid Support Code and call for help, but thought I'd try here first. I remember the good old days when DigiDesign owned Pro Tools and you could call free of charge(at least once) for support...

Somebody else had a very similar issue and their solution was to go into BIOS and remove or disable a floppy drive(even if you don't have a floppy drive) Also, remove any CD or DVD from your optical drive(if there is a disk in there).

Nothing in CD/DVD drive, disabled floppy disk, no change. Still 6-7 second lag before recording. And its only audio recording, midi is normal. Its driving me nuts! HELP

From the thread I started previously. I had the same issue. Here is my final post once resolved. Hope this helps.

RESOLVED! The problem was drive A in the BIOS setting. Drive A was disabled but it showed a configuration for a drive. I removed that configuration to show no drive and now the troublesome delay on both record and playback-after-record is eliminated and the functions are working normally. Thanks to the member "The Weed" who suggested the A Drive could be the problem.

I'm not as tech savvy as I'd like to be, I restarted computer to get to Bios but then after searching I couldn't find a drive "A". Anyway you could walk my dumb ass thru the steps you used removed or disabled drive A? I appreciate your help and time, thanks.

It Worked, I'm ecstatic! I actually had to go into device manager and right click Floppy Controllers, then disable. So far so good. Thanks for your time and help, very much appreciated.
