MIDI editing still laggy...
Is anyone else experiencing this? add just a bit of midi automation such as modulation or pitch bend and the whole thing slows down to a crawl when you have the midi editor open. delete the automation and it's fine again.
I made a quick screen recording of the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njRiw5dsqjQ Could be just a Windows problem? But is it happening to everyone on Windows? |

Re: MIDI editing still laggy...
of course,
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299 (Also had this problem on Windows 7) Motherboard Gigabyte Z97X-UD7 TH Processor Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz RAM G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) Storage Samsung 850 PRO 128GB / WD Blue HHDs Using Pro Tools 2018.1 I would hope it's not a lack of power causing this as I could get away with a lot more on a less powerful machine in the past. By the way, here is a post from 2016 with people experiencing the same problem in 12.5: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/avid...-midi-lag.html Last edited by ibbod0; 02-05-2018 at 05:13 AM. |

Have you optimized your system and turned off any unnecessary Windows 'features'? Running any other programs at the same time as PT? Using any wireless internet access from this machine? |

BTW, I can reproduce this in an empty session with just a single midi track assigned to nothing. As soon as I start to draw automation, it slows down. The more complex, the slower it gets. Here's the ptx file if anyone wants to test it on their system and let me know how it goes: https://app.box.com/s/zjotlr2vbt2zg0mu87obr9sswnjxrq0p |

Re: MIDI editing still laggy...
I'm having this issue with Pro Tools 2019.12 on Windows 10 1909. Trying to change the length of MIDI notes is EXTREMELY laggy when controller data is visible. Hiding controller lanes makes it possible to move the notes without lag. The problem is the same in the Zoom Toggle edit mode for MIDI - showing controllers and automation (with little triangle in the track header) introduces lag, hiding the controller lanes removes it.
Using integrated graphics and trashing preferences didn't resolve the issue for me. This bug is extremely frustrating and making it very hard to work with MIDI. Hopefully it will be addressed ASAP. |

Re: MIDI editing still laggy...
What I heard from support when I asked for an update is that they were able to reproduce it on windows and mac (mac takes a lot more before it gets laggy) and it was "pushed for the fix". That's from September last year.
Support also said the more people report an issue, the higher priority it becomes. So please report it via AVID Support center. |
