Default must power cycle between big sessions, why?

When I'm switching between larger trackcount or Virtual Instrument intense sessions I'll often hang or throw errors. I've gotten into the practice of power cycling between any major sessions. Why do I need to do this? Is PT "hanging on" to some of the RAM between sessions?

Default Re: must power cycle between big sessions, why?

I am in the practice of doing this as well. Yes, it seems to hold on to some of the RAM. It'll say something like certain plugins of the new session cannot be instantiated because not enough memory.. blah blah blah. Or some graphic error on upon new session load... I exit ProTools, relaunch and all is fine. VI's and most RTAS plugs always cause some buggy-ness. I wish there were more TDM VI's.
