Re: DOLBY Media Producer
Dolby Media Producer is a new system for encoding audio for the forthcoming HD-DVD and Blu Ray formats. It uses the new Dolby Digital Plus technology that is not available with existing DVD players. The system is rumored to cost anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000. If you are encoding and decoding for existing DVD-Video, DVD-A, or digital television, the Neyrinck SoundCode For Dolby Digital plug-in can be used. Dolby is not licensing Dolby Digital Plus yet, so the Neyrinck plug-in can not support it.

Re: DOLBY Media Producer
paul,
i appreciate you reply. and i know you know what you are doing in this arena. but i am a bit confused by what you are saying. you said: Quote:
this is from the dolby site Quote:
and these are a suite of plug-ins. will they really cost $5,000-$10,000? i understand your product and that people are happy with it. but i was hoping for some comparisons. thanks

Re: DOLBY Media Producer
Dolby's description, as I read it, is allowing for backward compatibility with standard DVDs. It does not imply that the product is currently available. (Although it does refer to "today's DVD formats") I think, as always, Dolby is trying to get out in front of the curve.
I would wait to see how the whole blue-ray vs HD-DVD pans out. But that's just me.

Re: DOLBY Media Producer
hey eric!
i see... i had read about it last year, and thought that it was not just for BLUE RAY & HD DVD ... so it is really intended for the new DVD formats...but if ya wanna use it for SD DVD's, then it'll work. is that right? kinda like overkill if you are only doing plain old DVD's .... and, yes, i have read about the blue-ray stumbles etc. so, i am with you, i'll wait that one out. seems like the neyrink is the solution today. thank you!
