Default A firewire bus reset was detected. (-6090)

Please don't slaughter me if this is a newbie question cause i'm definitely a newbie on PTLE and the 002 and I don't mean to be redundant on the boards and all but...

I'm getting an error message during my sessions that i can't seem to figure out. I'm running PTLE 6.7 on a dual 1.8 G5, OSX10.3.6 and during my sessions i get this...

A firewire bus reset was detected. Please check firewire cables and power to firewire devices. (-6090)

It will reset my digi002, sometimes making a clicking noise, and then i'll have to either turn it off and on again or bounce it in and out of standalone mode so it could find pro tools tracks again.

what is this? i've made the 002 the default audio in and out. I've made sure nothing else is running while i'm running PTLE. I've tried switching firewire cables... and it still does it.

Can anyone help me out on this please? Thanks!

gomez

10.3.6 is not supported and FireWire issues have ben reported with people using it.

Read the compatibility docs for the 002 and OS X below.

You should also check you have the latest firmware for your G5 -- there was a firmware update which fixed FireWire issues.

Hi,

If you firewire drive is on the same port as the 002 make sure that it is first inline. Rail is correct we don't support 10.3.6 so this may not be helping matters. You may want to check with your firewire drive's manufacture has any firmware updates available. If you 002 is clicking allot and not powering up properly you should contact support so that they can take care of it for you. If you are in the US or Canada you can find the contact information here . If you are out side to US you can fin your regional office here .
Thanks,

By "First" in the FW chain, you mean the drive, right, and not the 002?

thanks everyone and thanks techsupport, I found my panther box with 10.3.5 on it and installed it, still getting the same thing now and then. do you think i still need go back even further? maybe it's a power harness deal i'm reading about around the boards, could that be it? damn maybe i do need to get support involved.

more things my machine does when it loses firewire connection

monitor level goes to mute
faders make noise and even flutter a bit
won't stop validating...
click
validating...

validating...

hahaha wow.

If your Mac doesn't require this G5 Firmware update ... or if you do the update and the issue continues.. contact Digi Customer Service by 'phone.

I take it you've tried using a different FireWire port and cable.

thanks for the tip Rail, yes i've tried different ports and cables already. my firmware is updated but still getting it... i'm noticing the little green light in the back is flickering as it's doing this... and the more and more i'm reading around the boards... it's starting to sound like a power harness problem that some people using 002r's are experiencing... could i have a power harness problem in my 002?

Just called tech support, they were all too familiar with the problem, they're sending me a new power harness cable to replace the defective one in my 002. Thanks for everyone's attention on this, this is an awesome place to go to to get help and answers.

peace.
