Default what\'s wrong with pro tools m-powered 7???????

i dunno what's wrong with m-powered pro tools 7...when i was using 6.8 with a firewire 1814 i cud still support upto 96KHz of sample rate...but now when i installed pro tools 7 the sample rate was stuck in 44.1...so i re installed it again and now it gave me another choice now i can choose 44.1 or 48 KHz when i start a new project... but then all my other projects that are neither 44.1 or 48 can't be opened anymore coz pro tools would just say that the sample rate is not supported by the playback engine....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! its soOoooOooOooo annoying and i already installed the new m-audio drivers hoping it would help but it didn't...what the hell is wrong???? isn't pro tools 7 suppose to support upto at least 96KHz of sample rate??????? which one has the problem??? is it pro Tools or the new m-audio drivers that would supposedly support PT7??????

Did you check the M-Audio control panel to make sure the sample rate is not locked? Try that.

So, are you saying you cannot start a new session at 96k? Is there any error number in the message you're getting?

i had the same problem (among others) when i was running 6.8, my sample rate was stuck on 44.1, tried resetting the m-audio control panel, when i was lucky enough for it not to instantly freeze when i tried to do anything on it, but it didnt help

now i dont have that problem anymore with 7.0... i have a whole bunch of new problems

i also use the 1814

yeah i cannot start or open a 96 k session coz pro tools only offers me 44.1k or 48k there's no error message what so ever...this happened to me before when i was using 6.8...the sample rate was stuck on 44.1 so i uninstalled the new m-audio driver that i downloaded from their site and used the original driver that came with my 1814 on a disc.but now with PT7 those problems came up again,1st it was stuck on 44.1 then i reinstalled it again then it gave me an additional 48k... so what should i do now? uninstall PT7 and go back to 6.8 so i can have a 96k session??? oh...this is just annoying...

i forgot to mention that to fix the problem i had to re-install xp, which i had just installed a couple of weeks earlier... heres a tip, if ur clever, u can, opt to not format during the install... i do not mean doing a repair, i tried that and it did not work.

skip the part with the repair and go straight to the install part, and when given the option to format, choose not to... this way, you will keep all ur saved files and xp will reinstall only the things in the windows folder.

u might want to back up ur songs, just in case u format by accident or something

hehe! i've already fixed the problem...i think it's those damn supposedly new m-audio driver updates that's for PT7 that's causing the problem... i uninstalled PT7(totally including the digidesign drivers and folders and stuff)and the 1814 drivers. then i reinstalled the original 1814 driver from the disk that comes with the audio interface, i proceeded to clean install PT7...and whalla!!!!! there it was!!! i've got all the sample rates PT m-powered 7 can offer!!! ...this taught me a lesson though those new updates from m-audio that u download from the net are so unreliable ...am not touching my original m-audio drivers again!!!!

I suspect the new M-Audio driver set your windows default
audio device to the FW1814...

see: Resetting the default audio device

Jeff
PS: The new Maudio FW drivers (5.10.00.5036) work just fine ..

Hey Guys, I know this thread is a little old but, I've got a FW410 I'm having the same trouble, Jeff's suggestions seem logical but after doing all that and reinstalling aswell, still stuck on 44.1 - have to agree this is frustrating, cheaper software I use, never gave as much trouble.

Is there anyway to see if something is hogging or defaulting my 410 to 44.1 - I've changed all possible apps to my internal device and made that the default with no effect.

Thanks
Bren
