Windows 8.1 should be supported according to http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...m-Requirements.

Can you describe how/when it exactly crashes? On startup, playback,...? What audio hardware do you use? Have you disabled plugins, trashed preferences,...? Tried to set up a clean os install?

I have been running PT12 on Windows 8.1 Home edition since a week after it's release. I've not had any such errors. I'd maybe check your system for malware...

malwarebytes...

Default Pro tools 12 incompatible with windows 8.1?

My windows 8.1 is a clean install on a ssd its only been setup for 5 days there is no malware. My interface is a scarlet 6i6 and it crashes as soon as i get into a project by freezing completely by being not responsive at all.

I just did the malware bytes scan and as i already knew (due to this being a new install) i have no viruses or malware.

Interesting.

Maybe the device isn't getting enough power from the USB? If the device keeps dropping off and on in windows, or isn't responding to PT fast enough that could cause issues.

Other thing I'd do is make sure you have all the latest drivers for everything, and maybe following this guide:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...-Optimizations

Other than that, sounds like there might be a hardware related issue. As I said, I've been running PT12 on Windows 8.1 for some time without issue. So I'd probably start by disconnecting and disabling all devices and inputs you don't need, then work your way up until you find the problem device.

Any chance you can list your PC specs? Might help in assisting you with your issue. :)

Running Pro Tools 12 here on Windows without these issues. Are you running any 3rd party plug-ins that have not been updated?

I just booted in asio then changed it to focusrite drivers and now it works yay i guess focusrite drivers are terrible on 11 i had to disable dynamic plugin processing to get it to work damn so yh it is the bad focusrite drivers that were causing it.
