S3L discontinued - thinking about getting a second hand - reliability?

S3L is now being discontinued.
Apparently S6L 16C is the replacement, although a bit more expensive.
I see there people are selling 3 years old systems for as low as 7-8k EUR for 32 channel system. I even saw 48 inputs for 8k once. So I’m thinking about getting one. I’m ok with the fact it’s not going to be developed anymore. The questions is reliability. I’d like it to serve me for the next 7 years doing 30-40 shows a year. Will it make it?

Yes, you'll be fine. Our D-Show has been in service since April of '05 and we've only had to replace 1 fader.

Don't forget though, just because they're not sold anymore, doesn't mean that they're not supported. I do believe the requirement is that support is provided for something like 5 years after the final sale date... Feel free to get in touch with a sales rep, or call up support to confirm the exact details of how that works...

The information comes from dealers. They will stop selling them at the end of September if I recall correctly.

Probably there will be some left over supplies that will be available here and there after that date. But S6L 16C is the replacement for S3L. Pity it's much more expensive and heavier / bigger, making it difficult to travel alone in a small passenger car.

I am now deciding between a second hand S3L (for around 7k EUR), Waves LV1 or Allen&Heath SQ5 with Waves SoundGrid server.

30.9 is the last date the E3 Engine will be sold, it’s now in the end of life list.

i still hope for a new engine that supports the S3 Surface, i still Love the small size
