Pro Tools 8 LE Audio Problems
I have an iMac late 2009 with Snow Leopard running Pro Tools 8.0.3 with an Mbox2 and KRK Rokit5 Monitors connected to the mbox and a hub connecting the mbox to the mac. My problem is that i keep loosing audio on my krk's and I'm getting a pro tools message; CPU usage is holding off USB AUDIO. Remove some plugins....or increase the "H/W Buffer Size". How can I fix this issue? thank you,

Re: Pro Tools 8 LE Audio Problems
I did set the Buffer size to the maximum allowed amount, I'm also running the Pro Tools without any extra sounds or plugins and I'm still getting the same Problem!

Re: Pro Tools 8 LE Audio Problems
First, update to 8.0.5. There were fixes for issues with 8.0.3 & 8.0.4. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nload/en393663
Also, performing the following optimization a can make a big difference. Especially be sure to trash the prefs and databases after installing 8.0.5. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...739?popup=true

Quote:
You may connect everything else rather via a hub than your audio interface. Secondly do you already use a 2nd, separate, external hard drive for your Pro Tools sessions+audio files? If not, you really will have to! Its an official requirement for the successful use of Pro Tools by Avid. If you have not used such a 2nd, separate drive for your recordings yet, you may get an external 7200rpm HDD with a Firewire connection. This will be the most affordable yet professionally useable solution for you and your current 2009 iMac (no USB 3 ports available, only 4x USB 2+1x Firewire 800). Please, do not use an USB 2 drive nor an 5400rpm drive as both simply will be too slow for Pro Tools! These would be the right stuff for example. 500GB 7200rpm Firewire http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other.../MS8U3H7500GB/ 1TB 7200rpm Firewire http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other...g/MS8U3H7T1.0/ Further, as mentioned by others already, you should update your Mac OS Snow Leopard to the max which will be a fully updated 10.6.8. Do not forget to install this one. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?...S&locale=de_DE After that do all the recommended optimization stuff. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...oting/en349739 And you should finally update your Pro Tools to version 8.0.5. too http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43353 For Mac there is no LE8.0.4, you just need 8.0.3 (which you have got installed already) and the 8.0.5 update. Install it over your 8.0.3 and it should be alright. Only make sure you have updated and optimized your Mac Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 first and do not open Pro Tools again before you will have installed the 8.0.5 update! After the whole installing delete your Data Bases und trash your Pro Tools Preferences http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nd_Preferences then repair the disk permissions of your OS drive http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...sk_Permissions and finally shut down the computer. Turn the computer on again and under normal circumstances you should be good to go. Once again, you really need to connect your MBox 2 to one USB port of your iMac directly! It does not work properly via a hub. And you need to use a 2nd, separate (external) drive for your Pro Tools sessions+audio files. You must not record to your OS drive only with Pro Tools. If you do all the updating and optimizing stuff additionally you should be up and running again soon. The best of success to you, VRW |
