Though inconsistent unit to unit (s/n ratio, unity gain), the SPX 90 is still highly used by both music and audio post mix engineers here in NY. R&B/Hip Hop projects almost always, some major film mixers know the "sweet spot" and won't change to anything newer/better?, in addition to 960's, 600's and 480's. I will always let A&R or the client use their ears and make the call, auditioning each unit in context. It is best to get out of your own way.

I also Use D-verb for snare processing love it!!!! I really Love reverb one but tend to save that to do vocal plates for lead and backround vocal processing.Since im on limited DSP 1(1 mix farm 2 dsp farms) ill use D-verb on an rtas insert on snare then maybe do a submix of Kick and Toms for some room ambience using another D-Verb setting on an Aux track. Not to discourage this thread from becoming a "what's your favorite D-Verb setting?" thread, the SPL Transient Designer is amazing and one of the cheapest outboard boxes you can buy (2 ch for about $599 or less) when compared to all the Me Too pre/comp/EQ boxes selling for $2500-4000.

For Reverb Snare system 6000 rules. Medium Hall in Reverb A settings. Kicks Reverb One into touch big time. For the money sys 6000 is anawesome tool particularly for mastering
