Default WSC crashes

Hello - out of the blue I'm having a hard time with my system!

I'm getting hangs on the S6 that seem to be caused by WS Control.

I lose control of the desk (partially sometimes) but protools keeps working.

If I try to re-start WSC, it hangs on quit.
When I quit protools, it hangs, needs force quit.
Restart computer and it all works for about half hr.

At times have had notification of "Critical Error - thread EC-W error:vector
Please restart WSControl.

I've trashed PT prefs, trashed all plugins, updated console software and WSC.

OS 12.6.3

What should I do next?

Thanks!

Did you change anything recently, OS update, network port or config, enabled a new port. What is the new EUCON performance indicator showing?(In PT Edit Window top bar, right click to add if its not visable)

THanks the the reply Eddie,

Nothing new with the computer.

The Eucon light stays green.

still getting Critical Error - THread EC-W xx 747 has stopped functioning with eroror:Vector please restart WSControl.

But both protools and WSC hang when I quit.

Avid support told me to turn off "Display Knobs from most recently clicked DAW Area", but that was already off.

Have you tried an uninstall of EUCON via the installer, checking remove all Apps and Remove all prefs? (Just to make sure) logs show a lot of possible network errors, its hard to tell from where though.

Hi Eddie,

So - I've done a complete clean re-install on the mac.
the problem persists.
Desk freezes up ususally, it seems after some knob tweaking - of EQ for instance.
Protools keeps working, but if I try to quit either protools, or WSControl they lock up and need to be force quit.

I've also run a new network cable straight to the computer, and changed network port on the computer.

Any ideas?

Can you quit the Trinoff App and see if things improve. We see all the errors in the logs and that comes up a lot.

I’m pretty sure the trinnov app isn’t installed on the other computer (my laptop).
I should have sent you a log from that- sorry.
When it continued to freeze on my laptop, I went back to the Mac Pro.
But I will double check.

Would it be worthwhile trying a new switch instead of the internal d link one? Or less modules, or swap patch cables?

Another thing I’ve noticed on my test session, is that if I load fab filter q3 the system freezes almost immediately.

If the desk is not plugged in everything is fine.

To be clear, it also freezes with just Eq-7 on 32 empty tracks, but it takes about 5-10 minutes.

We have the software team looking through the logs. It definitely looks like the network or something messing with it. It's certainly worth a try to either pair the system down or replace the switch whilst we wait on their assessment.
