OK. In my case, I've disabled all of those and have a manual all-core overclock. I guess things have changed. Some time ago PT didn't like voltage changes.

Same.

Hey EGS,

What cooling solution do you use? Do you also experience extreme thermal peaks when carrying out heavy tasks? When I was using the i712700k / Pro Z690-A DDR4, I was able to overclock it stably to 5.2, but never got the sort of peaks I saw recently with the i913900k.

Strangely, even with stacks of plugins, PT seems to perform efficiently within very reasonable thermal bounds. The only task that took me to 100c was Izotope's RX9 and 10 when performing a stem separation. I haven't yet used Ozone since I upgraded, but I'll check as soon as I have some time. For now, I won't even go anywhere near Acustica till I've finished the current project.

Air cooling - 2 push-pull fans on the CPU cooler plus case fans. All fans are super-low db fans. The only time the CPU gets hot is on some heavy-lifting type video edit sessions, since video renders can max-out all cores to 100%. For Pro Tools though, no heat issues!

As far as CPU spikes - typically caused by an old or poorly coded 3rd party plug.

I no longer have CPU spikes in PT, just heat on heavy tasks.

Have you tried a lower clock, like 5.2GHz or 5.3 instead of 5.5? Maybe that would help with heat on heavy tasks? On my 11th gen, during a long video render (which hits ALL cores at 100% for the duration of the render) I will temporarily lower to 4.8. To keep temps safe, then back to constant 5.1 for Pro-Tools.
