Numerous DAE Errors - Now No Sound
Hi there. I'm running Pro Tools M Powered 8.0.1 on my 64bit Windows 7 Laptop.
I've had Pro Tools trouble since I got the laptop in December, the most annoying of which has just started happening today. After experiencing a whole host of DAE errors (9019, 9031, 9400, 6006 to name a few) I am now unable to hear anything from my Firewire 410 and although Pro Tools shows the usual level readings, the 410 shows no Ouptut signal at all. I have the latest driver installed for it, and have tried repairing it with the driver exe. I have also just reinstalled Pro Tools and the problem occured both in 8.0.0 and after updating to 8.0.1 I only have one firewire port on my laptop so I can't try it out on another (though it worked fine on my Dell Desktop running 7.4 on XP not long ago). I have only one cable too, so cannot try that either. Any information you could give me would be great. As I say, the problems before were frustrating (playback would stop all the time and Pro Tools would complain that I had too many plug ins even when I had none) but now I can't even hear anything. Pro Tools appears to be playing back and in the M-Audio Control Panel I can see a signal but nothing is coming out of either of the headphone outputs. I have also tried testing each of the 410's outputs using the Windows Sound preferences. No luck there either. I hope that's enough info to give you an idea of what's wrong. The following is my computer specs and various versions and what not. (I'd give you a SANDRA report but the Lite Download link on their site doesn't work...) System model: Dell Studio 1747 BIOS: Ver 1.00 A03 Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU Q 820 @ 1.73ghz (8 CPUs) Memory: 6144mb RAM Page File: 2347mb used, 9915mb available Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Pro Tools: Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.3 (Education - not that I think that makes any difference) Sound Card: M-Audio Firewire 410 |

Re: Numerous DAE Errors - Now No Sound
First thing I would do is go get another firewire cable either from a friend or go buy one from your closest store. Hook it up and assuming you have itune or like you said just standard windows sounds make sure it works from there first, cause it seems like it may be a bad cable. Does your computer still recognize the 410 in device manager?, or is there an exclamation mark?

Re: Numerous DAE Errors - Now No Sound
Discard my question about recognizing your hardware cause I realize your meters are active in PT. Double check your IO setup and throw away your dae prefs and digi databases.

Re: Numerous DAE Errors - Now No Sound
Thanks for the quick response.
I had deleted the DAE Prefs and Digi Databases before I posted (and whilst I was still having the problem). Having just given my laptop a break from Pro Tools I returned and plugged in my firewire cable into the other slot on the back of the 410. I also pushed the mains plug in a little (may have been loose). Suffice to say, it appears to be working now. Though I just recieved a 9018 dae error and the old 'you are running out of cpu power' pop up. Is this just a problem with Windows 7 and PT8 or is there something I can do about that too? Also, to clarify, I am now running Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.3 (not 8.0.1 as I half mentioned before). I updated mid way through posting hence the confusion. I realise this is a BETA for Windows 7. Could that also be a factor? Thanks again, Peter. |

Re: Numerous DAE Errors - Now No Sound
I'm not running 8.0.3 so I don't know but again since it's in beta it very well may be the problem. I think there is a whole thread on windows 7 at the top here.

Re: Numerous DAE Errors - Now No Sound
Ok, so a month on and I'm starting to get really impatient with this whole Windows 7 hates PT8 thing. Is there anything I can do at all?? I've tried using a ProFire 610 and have ended up with the same problems. Horrible glitchy sounds after Pro Tools gives up trying to play things. Several occurances of my laptop not being able to recognise my Firewire 410 despite it being plugged in. And now Pro Tools is starting to freeze my whole computer forcing me to softboot it instead of shutting down and restarting properly. I just want to be able to open pro tools and not have to close it every 10 minutes and restart!
What's even more annoying is that if I jump to the right place in the session I'm working in (the right place changes randomly) Pro Tools will play back fine. Often, these working sections have even more going on than the bits that stop playing. Which leads me to think that it's definately not just a case of PT struggling with numerous RTAS plug ins. So is there anything I can do? I know it's a BETA so bugs are expected, but can I really be taking this long to find some sort of solution? P.S. I've attached a Sandra report in case people need more info... Re: Numerous DAE Errors - Now No Sound
Right. Now it is crashing everytime I open it. It loads up the session then freezes and I have to turn of my computer manually.
Any thoughts? |
