Default ProControl Fader Randomky Looses Connection 2 PT

One of the faders on my main PC unit occasionally looses its connection to protools. All other buttons/controls on that channel works. No have to turn the PC off and then back on again to get the fader to move the DAW FADER in PT.

Any suggestions?

Hi Barry,

I would advice to open the unit, disconnect the ribbon cable between the fader and the IC-board, clean contacts and reconnect it.

Another tip is to disconnect all 8 faders, remove the ribbon cables and reconnect the cables, but make sure you don't use the same cable for the same fader (use the cable from fader 1 for fader 2, the cable from fader 2 for fader 3, etc.). In this way each fader gets a 'new' cable with 'new' contacts (meaning all pins and busses connect in a new way, lowering the risk for bad contacts)

DMB's suggestions are great.

But, you could also just hit utility button > Test > Faders > Recal (press 1 - 3 times, YMMV)

Esc and you're out. No need to power cycle and more graceful. If it happens in front of a client just say: "Hey, a sleepy fader" and 10 seconds later it is back online.

Hope it helps, all the Best
Walt
