Default Re Install Plug-ins?

I have been having an issue with getting random (sometimes just a few a day, sometimes several an hour) loud digital spikes or ticks when recording audio into my sessions. I have tried everything other than a clean re-install of the software. Is there anyway to preserve my plug-ins so I don't have re-load and re-authorize them all?

Thanks

Hi,

First thing to try is a "safe" un-install of pro tools and then re-install. the uninstaller is in the PT folder/digidesign/applications/mack HD.
This will replace all the pro tools application files. but won't change any third party plugins or their auths.

What have you tried to troubleshoot the digital spikes you are getting?
What interfaces have you got and how are they clocked!! have you stripped the system back physically? checked all connecting cables and clocking cables and the PCI cards and flexi cable etc.

Have you run Digi test?

Can you try recording from a digital source? a CD player etc and see if that has the same problem!

Have you tried running a session from another hard drive?

Chris

I can get this on my Mac Pro when Airport is enabled.
Disabling Airport solves it for me, IOW.

When you say you've tried everything - that would be everything in the Setup and General Troubleshooting sticky at the top of this forum?

If so - the problem could be drive related. What type of drives are you using? Have you tried using a different drive?
