Default Import Track Inserts feature

Loving the recall features. Would like to see it go a step further and be able to import inserts from tracks in other sessions. Currently to do this you have to use import track date and import the entire track, then drag the inserts you want to the desired track (takes even longer with UAD plugins).

The purpose of this is because I often want to reuse a chain if doing a couple jobs for the same client, but don't necessarily want every chain saved as an actual preset. Go to an insert slot, pull up the inserts menu, and have an option that says Import Track Inserts. This feature would allow that.

Why not just use "Import Session Data" but only check "Plug-in Assignments" and "Plug-in Settings and Automation"?

Because you still have to import the entire channel and drag the inserts over to your new channel. Import Session Data applies to your entire session. What I'm suggesting should be done at the actual track. Go to an insert slot, pull up the inserts menu, and have an option that says Import Track Inserts.

No you don’t, and no it doesn’t.
You can import just the plugins for any particular track from one session and lay them into a specific track. Instead of importing as New Track, use the drop down list to select the track in the current session you want to import the data onto.

Learn something new everyday. Never realized this. Thanks!

But I still think this could be made more efficient with my suggestion, although it would technically be duplicating existing functionality.

Actually, I was correct in my original statement. When you are trying to import inserts from different track types, you have to import the entire channel and drag the inserts. Example, if I want to import inserts from a Master channel to an Audio channel, the Import Session Data menu does not allow you to select your audio channel as the track to import your Master channel data to. You can only select option New Track unless you are importing to another Master channel. The same is true if trying to import from an Aux channel to an Audio channel.

So again, would be nice to have a feature to import track inserts from another session.
