Can't delete unwanted items in midi studio

Midi studio opens and shows about 4 items highlighted. I'd like to add some and get rid of some but when I click on a highlighted item my "delete item" button above stays greyed out and can't be pushed. Is there some other way to delete an unneeded item in midi studio?I'm running PT 12.8 and OS 10.13.4. Thanks,
