Default Windows users with CPU spikes/errors 12.5

I'm looking for Windows users who have CPU errors/spikes on 12.5
Could you do a quick test to see if this helps:
Use the Task Manager to set processor affinity for ProTools.exe, and de-select a couple of processors. On the systems I've tested on, all CPU issues go away. I'm trying to see if this workaround works for others.

Open Task Manager (Click More Details if it doesn't show the Details tab.)
Select the Details tab
scroll to find ProTools.exe then right-click it and then click Set Affinity.
de-select a processor or two, then click Ok.

Does the CPU levels in the System Usage (in ProTools) window calm down?

I tried this a couple of days ago (disabling the last two processors), and the spikes still returned. FYI Avid support did not have any solution for me regarding this so far.

For Windows7 PT12.3.1 is The best so far,

Anyway... I did the set affinity and the results were dissapointing, because affinity does not tell PT it has less cores, only removes cores from PT.

Avid should have or include a command line option like VSTHost.exe /numprocessors=20
For example...

http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/...es/237816-3779

If set affinity could be forced Before PT detects the # cores, that could be useful.
After is useless.

I tried this on an 8-core I7 CPU with hyperthreading disabled, and it did not stop the -9173 error from occurring. OS was Windows 7 SP1, PT version 12.5 w/HDX.

I've yet to see if it makes any difference with hyperthreading on.

One observation I've made is, that with more cores showing due to hyperthreading being enabled, the reported CPU usage is lower. Also, based on what clock speed I run, the usage will decrease with a higher clock speed as well.

You have a bad install. Download the installer again.

HDX's are more -9173 prone than native it seems. That is on both OSX and Windows.
