old PT Project projects play only 8 tracks?
Please help me in my time of need... <g>
Short version: v4.1 ProTools Project projects, when opened in v5.0 Digi001, only play back 8 tracks at a time. v5.0 Demo projects play back all tracks (i.e. >8) fine. Why? How can I get all tracks to play back? Long version: Limped along with a ProTools Project system with 4.1 software for years. This system is hardware-limited to 8 tracks, so you have to manage voices etc. Just bought a Digi 001 system (v5.0 in the box) and put in a 266 MHz platinum G3 with a ATTO Express PCI Fast/Wide card driving a dedicated Atlas drive (same as I used for the old Project system). Demo projects play back all tracks fine. However, when I open my old projects, only 8 tracks (I suspect connected to my old voice allocation scheme) play at a time. Re-arranging the tracks vertically in the track window has an effect on which ones play. Can't find any way to get more than 8 tracks in these projects to play (okay, haven't tried re-saving entire tracks and allocating them to new tracks yet). But the demo projects - with more than 8 tracks - play fine, so it's not my hardware. Ideas?!?!? Thanks in advance - - CM |
