I would pay (again) for windows/aax versions but I've lost faith after waiting so long.

His plugins are nice but nowhere worth buying a mac and having to reinstall my whole system. There are many other options that doesn't abandon the ship like this and also sounds better.
from what i could understand, he didn't get enough sales to make continuing windows PT, or VST in either platform worthwhile. If people had bought them as he thought they would, he would have continued with them.

As I stated, with regard to plugins the market is completely different to what it was 10-15 years ago as are the prices. For example, Waves Gold cost me near to the $799 RRP than the sub $150 it goes for on Audio Deluxe today.

That's less than $4 per plugin! These are not throwaway plugins but those still in use from A list mixers around the globe.

Anyone who wants to invest in plugins costing several hundred dollars each can be my guest but largely those days are gone.

Stephen
This is exactly right and a completely accurate post in every way. A hell of a lot of sense there.

And btw, considering there WAS a sale for 149 on 2 of the dave hill plugins, he obviously realised he has to adapt also..

I remember when the distressor from empirical labs themselves was first announced (before it turned into the mutant that is arousor), the dev said it wouldn't be cheap and I guessed around $349 street, and said if it was 1 to 1 then i'd consider it, as it could replace a boatload of outboard distressors.

every single person in that topic jumped on me and told me i was literally insane (2 years ago this happened, not 2018) for even suggesting such a ridiculously high price..
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. LOL.

Of course, it ended up being around what i predicted. I initially guessed full retail would be 499 and you should have seen the reaction to that one LOL!

Nobody will buy a plugin if there is no version available for their system.
Besides how come other companies manage to sell aax versions for Windows?

because most companies are not just one man. There are lots of small owner/operator companies who have the time but not everybody does.

IIIRC, he only did an AU build of Tapehead.

I don’t think he ever did VST, just RTAS/AAX.

Just found the Sonimus plugins. A great sounding alternative to the massey plugins.

Inexpensive, barely any CPU usage and no latency is a great plus for me as I manley compose on a elderly computer.
This just shows that good sounding plugins doesn't have to be resource hogs.

nope, he did vst of some of the plugins indeed.. free mono versions just like with aax

the au build of tapehead is no longer available, it was a generic gui using just one of the algorithms wiht a dry slider. I have used his vst versions personally.

Well there ya go.

Weird. I own a couple of his plugins and don’t recall ever seeing VST versions in my account.

No biggie.

I did apologise to you in the other topic by the way, sincerely, and deleted my offensive post.
