Default PT 7.4 Freeze, Restoring audio engine settings...

Hi
Pro Tools 7.4 is freezing when opening a session, at this part of the startup sequence: "Restoring audio engine settings...".

This seems to have been triggered because I am using a session that I have copied from another computer. Normally I have been using a common external hard drive. Naturally if it would let me open the session I could then amend the disk allocation preferences. But, no go.

I have been through all the business of trashing of preferences and other files, reinstalling Pro Tools, rebooting, trying a different MBox. I've scoured the internet, but there is surprising very little reference to this problem.

Any ideas?

No but I'm now also getting the problem with PT 8.0 - trying to open a session created with PT 7.4 on a Macbook. It will however create a new session OK.

However, I've found another interesting thing. I can create a new session, and drag the old audio files into the session, from the finder, no worries. But if I try to do this using the workspace manager, for a single audio file I may get the spinning disk while PT considers this, plus "not responding" in the Force Quit Applications window, but it will nevertheless complete the operation and return to normal.

In other words, maybe it's not crashed, just slow ...

Same here - PT 8 - REALLY slow at times. I've no idea why.
