Default Recording through MBOX 3 issues.

Not a beginner but also not at all a master - my question may seem stupid but I have spent SEVERAL hours checking user manuals, lynda tutorials, help forums, and sought help from many people who have performed the same task on the interface I am using that could not solve the problem.

I can't get any levels from my guitar to come through the mbox into protools, absolutely no responsiveness.

It is plugged into the front input 01.
I have the front/rear button set to front.
The guitar (because it's an acoustic with a jack) has batteries that are working.
My audio track is record enabled.
I'm using headphones and my playback engine is set to Avid mbox (I imported different audio and checked that that was working).
My I/O on the track is set to I: Analog 1 O: Analog 1-2

I have obviously missed something huge either in my I/O settings, Hardware Settings, or maybe Peripherals (I was trying with a MIDI keyboard earlier and couldn't get that to work either - it was getting response and recording and everything but no sound output).

I have restarted Pro Tools and the computer several times. I have also tried plugging the 1/4 in to the front and back, both channels 1+2.

This issue is time sensitive, please please help me. I don't mind if you trash me for being an idiot because obviously I am and have missed something.

Specs:

Macintosh OS X Yosemite
Version 10.10.5
Processor 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5
16GB Memory

Pro tools version 11.3.1
Mbox 3 (not mini)

Is signal coming out of guitar cord? Does it work through a regular guitar amp or PA?

Fixed the problem with the guitar - but the MIDI Keyboard still doesn't work if anyone can help me with that.
