Re: Bounce to disk sounds different from master channel
That's good practice if you a doing a fade, so you don't hit the compressor less as the music fades down, but it has nothing to do with what you are hearing and what goes to 'tape' - it's the same thing, always post fader!

Bounce to disk sounds different from master channel
Quote:
They are pushing the digital mix window into saturation to get "the sound of the console" for the final mix ;^)

Re: Bounce to disk sounds different from master channel
Yeah I see your point- it has to be something with the OP's automation - b/c honestly it shouldn't sound different at all...

Re: Bounce to disk sounds different from master channel
Automation will be heard live in the session, same as the bounce...

Re: Bounce to disk sounds different from master channel
I reckon it's either 'bounce source' or playing back the bounce from within the session. The OP still hasn't said how he's playing it back.

Re: Bounce to disk sounds different from master channel
Just some friendly advice.
The OP's issue is almost assuredly user error during bounce or playback. |

Re: Bounce to disk sounds different from master channel
On a slightly different tack, just to clarify. I always bounce to disk real time because I have an outboard analog mastering comp on the 2 Bus and I am assuming that it's processing would not be included in an offline bounce. Correct ?

The only difference I've ever noticed with Offline Bouncing, is that on those weird, inexplicable occasions where Pro Tools decides to loose it's grip on MIDI timing (the metronome develops epilepsy, or Drum V.I.'s exhibits a serious case of the Keith Moon's) during regular playback / Print To Track / Realtime Bounce - Pro Tools instead gets everything bang on the mark with Offline Bounce (which makes sense, but doesn't speak too reassuringly of Realtime accuracy). |
