That's good practice if you a doing a fade, so you don't hit the compressor less as the music fades down, but it has nothing to do with what you are hearing and what goes to 'tape' - it's the same thing, always post fader!

Yeah I see your point- it has to be something with the OP's automation - b/c honestly it shouldn't sound different at all...

Automation will be heard live in the session, same as the bounce...

I reckon it's either 'bounce source' or playing back the bounce from within the session. The OP still hasn't said how he's playing it back.

The OP's issue is almost assuredly user error during bounce or playback.

On a slightly different tack, just to clarify. I always bounce to disk real time because I have an outboard analog mastering comp on the 2 Bus and I am assuming that it's processing would not be included in an offline bounce. Correct ?
