Default Recording issues

Hi all,

I'm encountering this issue every now and again with PTLE 8.0.3
Whenever I arm a track, then hit the record button (I use F12), there's a delay of 10-20 seconds before the recording actually starts.

I don't think this is a computer issue. I am running Windows 7 Pro with an Intel i5 750 Processor @ 2.67 GHz, 4 GB of RAM.

My score on the D-verb test was 199 Dverbs on (if I remember correctly) 40 tracks.

Sometimes when I close the session, there's that annoying delay again before I'm prompted to save the file...

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Mony

Check the "recording disk allocation" (or something like that) in the preferences. If it's set to use all the disk space, it may be slow to start recording. Try setting it to 10 mins f.ex. Disk fragmenteation could also cause it, I believe.

Again, is the disk very full or fragmented?

Thumbs up Re: Recording issues

Thanks. I think that definitely helped :)

It's a bit sporadic, as in sometimes it does this, and sometimes it doesn't, so I guess time will tell..

At any rate, I defrag my hard drive every month or so (I don't like doing it too often as some people argue it shortens the hard drive's life..). When I checked just now the fragmentation on my C drive was at 7%, and on my D drive (the audio drive) it was 0% fragmentation, so I don't think that is the issue.

Thank you!
Mony

Oops...sorry about that. Yes I am using a PC.

There are no space issues at any rate. I have 2 drives with 500 GB each, and neither of them are over 40% usage.

You may want to post this on the PT PC forum since this is the one for Macs
