But most of what you say is true. However, you can easily make objects of parts you want to mute and do muting this way. I find midi/VI implementation rather elegant. You cannot send a track to more than 1 submixbus at the same time, you can however use auxbusses for that.
Samplitude certainly has its own way of doing things, but at first sight I seem to like it and it seems to suit my way of working.
Easily?. So much slower than a realtime push of mute button. Stop project, measure, split, go into new object and hit mute. Make sure you don't get a terrible fade or pop on the split. For multiple tracks it's a brutal compromise. Also, you can't do that on an effects send when u want to do a long delay throw or reverb splash. How about when you want to just turn off the delays at the end of song or drop when u don't want them to delay out. Also, Aux Busses in samp are just effect sends. Doesn't help with lack of bussing system. I was with this program from SEK'd 5.1, then when it was bought by Emagic and shelved, etc. Elegant is not how I would describe midi/VI implementation is Samp. Wow! far from that.

Obviously we work far differently from one another. Nothing wrong with that, but it leads to drawing completely different conclusions about it as a tool.

I find PT clumsy, slow, and tedious. Editing is the worst. I the same things in Samplitude and find it elegant and easy. I don't use busses the way you do because I don't find the ability to send a same track to multiple busses useful. You have sends for that. Mute automation seems counter-intuitive to me when it's so easy to draw a volume curve

Automation in samp takes 3 extra steps to do what's needed and there is no mute automation. Try and automate a mute on a fader. Can't be done. That's unacceptable in 2015 and automation 101. Try doing volume automation in samp to use as a de-esser. Not pretty. Try setting up a tempo grid. See how many steps it takes you and how long. Sidechain? Try using "stutter edit" or something similar (midi audio control). Not pretty and more steps than needed in any daw. PT was based on audio and brought in midi. Just as Samplitude was with it's endless menus.

Now, I've just finished a recording with PT 12 and RME hardware over 6 days in a cinema theater. It all went smooth, so I'm happy.

This must be the best first release of PT I've ever worked with.

Well done, Avid.
Hi Stig.

I'm going up to 12.1 HD from 11.3.1 HD. .

Yes, I did. Started out with a new system drive. It took quite a while, but the system has been running very well, and I have my PT 11.3.1/ OS 10.8.5 drive as a backup.

I also took the opportunity to only install software and plugins that I use frequently. I have way too many licenses on my iLoks.

Hi Stig.
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, very appropriate. .
I too whittled down the chaff hanging around when I went to 11.3.1
May I ask, you're using 10.8.5 with your 12.1 . is that correct?
I'm thinking of staying with 10.9.5 for the PT 12.1 install. .

That said, I recorded quite a bit using my iMac with OS 10.9.5 and RME hardware, and didn't have a single hiccup.
