Suggestions on which direction to take for an upgrade?

I'm still on PowerPC G5 PT 7.4, HD Core + HD Accel cards

Should I buy a new Mac Pro / Magma Chassis / PT9HD Upgrade

or go Native on a new Mac Pro and sell the old system?

I have a Pro Tools HD3 V7.3 with a 192. Can I use this system with Pro Tools 9? My cards are the old PCI. What are the system requirements?

My computer is an old G5 tower, I'm planning to build a intel mac with the old card slots.

old card will not fit in a new case
you ether need to trade them in or get a Magma chassis

The only thing PT9+CPTK has over PT9HD is CPTK includes XForm, which is not included on the PT9HD. This is the only difference in functionality other than the TDM and HD card issue described above. You can, I believe, even use an ICON with PT9. Either version will work with any standard Native 3rd party card or even the built in CoreAudio. This means you can install PT9HD on a Laptop, bring your ilok and edit or mix on a plane through headphones. Also, PT9 now includes all the digitranslator (SMPTE timeline etc) and even mp3 option at no additional cost (not even requiring CPTK) But both version require Intel processors so G5 will not work.

Hi,

My HD2 Accel system has an I/O of 32 which is formed by one 192 IO Digital + one 24Bit Adat Bridge.

So... with HD9, do I lose the 24bit Adat Bridge or I do need to buy an HD IO and put the 192 IO digital at the Legacy Port?

I do need to know this before the purchase of HD9

So.... will HD9 run with 2 192 IO Digital interfaces or must I have at least a new generation interface and transfer "legacy HD" to a legacy port?
