Default 5.1 QT center is playing on right

I just got a QT prores file with 5.1 interleaved. It's using the SMPTE order (L-R-C-LFE-Ls-Rs). When i imported in PT even though the metering shows (LRCLfeLsRs), it's playing back as Film channel setting so my dialog is coming out on my right speakers (channel 2 ) instead of channel 3. Any idea why ?

My studio is set up as SMPTE..

Open 6 mono channels move the 5.1 channels on it and rearrange it as LCRLsRsLfe. Then just move it back on the 5.1 channel.

Are you saying PT cannot play back 5.1 SMPTE interleave file properly and the only way is to reorder the file to Film ?

thx

Yes. The PT standard 5.1 layout is a Film / Dolby style - LCRLsRsLFE

But i thought 5.1 interleave in SMPTE order playback is possible in PT 12 HD ?

In any case, the metering i got for this interleave track is SMPTE order (LRCLfeLsRs)...Any idea why ? I thought metering order in PT has always been film...Thx

Go in the io setup.

In the output tab, at the bottom of the page there is an option where you can select your prefered surround format.
