Yeah, the installer won't work on Mavericks as Avid stated here.

I would think you could just install Mountain Lion over top of Mavericks but I haven't tried it myself.

It was only just released a few days ago, it is obviously not going to support a lot of third party software yet, that is common sense. Do you run time machine? If not you will have to do a clean install of 10.8

I'm sure a patch for PT will be out soon. For future reference always run time machine or manual backup (Like carbon copy clone), especially when doing such a major upgrade

I would have to disagree with this. If you are worried about it just schedule the backups to occur during a time when you are not working with Pro Tools. Time machine is one of OS X's best features and is incredibly easy to setup.

Follow the instructions on the apple site to setup time machine, but you basically insert a blank disk and switch time machine on!

I agree on the recommendation that AUTOMATIC time machine should be off, because you never know when it's going to start and mess up your PT performance. But you can still use time machine manually. Choose a backup disk and after first backup turn it off. Then later on, just click on the grey time machine symbol and choose back up now. Easy. And you decide when to back up, not your computer.

Never update your OS without checking that all of your apps are compatible

Never trust any company that sells an OS (or gives it away)

If your mother tells you that she loves you, get conformation
