Additional RAM is not a "waste" if you're using Disk Cache. If you have 32GB of RAM in your computer you can assign, for example, 16GB to the Disk Cache, which loads the entire session from the hard drive into RAM giving you instant playback response.

PT10.3.10 vanilla does not have disk cache and that's what the op has (not HD or vanilla with the CPTK).
