Saffire pro 40 shows only 1/2 outputs in PT 10
Hello,
2 questions, 1- I just got the saffire pro 40, loaded in the software and badaboom, it works BUT, I only see outputs to L/R one and grey out on 3/4 headphones. On input I see only input one. ( in pro tools 10) on the saffire it lists all 16 ins and outs as available. I loaded the newest asio 4 all, it says just speakers 1/2 for output(saffire) and 1 mono (saffire) input. I re set to default the I/O settings in PT and tried searching saffire / pt-avid/ web in general, and got no specific responce. I have called others and they say it just pops up(no help). here is the sandra report: SiSoftware Sandra Computer Model : OEM System Product Name Workgroup : 35THST Host Name : Studio2-PC User : The Bunker AA Processor Model : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz Speed : 3GHz Cores per Processor : 4 Unit(s) Threads per Core : 2 Unit(s) Type : Quad-Core Integrated Data Cache : 4x 32kB, Synchronous, Write-Thru, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing L2 Cache : 4x 256kB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing L3 Cache : 8MB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 16-way, Exclusive, 64 byte line size, 16 threads sharing Computer Mainboard : ASUS P7P55D-E PRO BIOS : AMI (OEM) 0610 12/10/2009 Bus(es) : ISA X-Bus PCI PCIe IMB USB FireWire/1394 i2c/SMBus Multi-Processor (MP) Support : No Multi-Processor Advanced PIC (APIC) : Yes Total Memory : 8GB DIMM DDR3 Chipset Model : ASUS Core (Clarksfield/Lynnfield) DMI Front Side Bus Speed : 2x 2.41GHz (4.82GHz) Chipset Model : Intel Core Desktop (Lynnfield) UnCore Front Side Bus Speed : 2x 2.41GHz (4.82GHz) Total Memory : 8GB DIMM DDR3 Channels : 2 Memory Bus Speed : 2x 670MHz (1.34GHz) Memory Module(s) Memory Module : G.Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBRL 2GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : G.Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBRL 2GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : G.Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBRL 2GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : G.Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBRL 2GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Video System Video Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (800 SM5.0 850MHz, 1GB DDR5 4.8GHz 128-bit, PCIe 2.00 x16) Video Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (800 SM5.0 850MHz, 1GB DDR5 4.8GHz 128-bit, PCIe 2.00 x16) Graphics Processor OpenCL Processor : ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (800SP 10C 850MHz, 1GB DDR5 4.8GHz 128-bit) Compute Shader Processor : ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (800SP 850MHz, 1GB DDR5 4.8GHz 128-bit) STREAM Processor : ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (800SP 10C 850MHz, 1GB DDR5 4.8GHz 128-bit) Storage Devices WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 (1TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) : 932GB (X:) WDC WD6401AALS-00E3A0 (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) : 596GB (C:) WDC WD6401AALS-00J7B0 (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) : 596GB (F:) SanDisk Cruzer 64GB (USB) : 60GB (E:) TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223L (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : N/A (D:) Disk : N/A (K:) ZSZSNE DUVS1UZST (SCSI, BD-R, HD-DVD-R, DVD+-R-DL, CD-R) : N/A (G:) Logical Storage Devices BUNKER (X:) : 932GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 (1TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) OS ONLY (C:) : 596GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD6401AALS-00E3A0 (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) workdrive (F:) : 596GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD6401AALS-00J7B0 (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) Removable Drive (E:) : 60GB (FAT32) @ SanDisk Cruzer 64GB (USB) Optical Drive (D:) : N/A @ TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223L (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Optical Drive (K:) : N/A @ Disk Optical Drive (G:) : N/A @ ZSZSNE DUVS1UZST (SCSI, BD-R, HD-DVD-R, DVD+-R-DL, CD-R) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : ASUS P55 LPC Interface Controller LPC Legacy Controller 1 : T0 B3-53 Audio Device : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 High Definition Audio Audio Device : Pine Technology EG JUNIPER XT Audio Device [Radeon HD 5700 Series] Disk Controller : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 4 port SATA IDE Controller Disk Controller : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 2 port SATA IDE Controller Disk Controller : ASUS JMB36X PCIE-to-SATAII/IDE RAID Controller Disk Controller : ASUS 88SE914D SATA-600 Controller USB Controller 1 : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 USB2 Enhanced Host Controller USB Controller 2 : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 USB2 Enhanced Host Controller USB Controller 3 : ASUS Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : Avlab Technology XIO2200(A) IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link) FireWire/1394 Controller 2 : ASUS VIA VT6308 1394 OHCI Controller SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : Intel ICH SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Printer : Adobe PDF Converter (4000x4000, Colour) Peripherals Media Player : SanDisk Cruzer (59.6GB) Network Services Network Adapter : Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Ethernet, 100Mbps) Power Management Mains (AC) Line Status : On-Line Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.01.7601 (Service Pack 1) Platform Compliance : x64 Windows Experience Index Current System : 5.9 Please let me know what I am doing incorrectly Thanks |

Re: Saffire pro 40 shows only 1/2 outputs in PT 10
also I want to restrict the access to some of the computer as no changing the basics in windows. I can do this in group settings and make the logon a user not admin. . Does this screw up PT 10 and /or is there a better way...I will have many unskilled users starting to use this system and, I will be on watch but, all it takes is one oop's and I am reloading!

Here's Part 1 of 3: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/...le.php?id=1056 Finally, read this: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/...gory.php?id=95 Hope this helps !!!

Re: Saffire pro 40 shows only 1/2 outputs in PT 10
FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : Avlab Technology XIO2200(A) IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link)
FireWire/1394 Controller 2 : ASUS VIA VT6308 1394 OHCI Controller Dunno if this is okay... You might want to get a SIIG firewire card with a TI chipset for reliable Firewire performance: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/...le.php?id=1184

Re: Saffire pro 40 shows only 1/2 outputs in PT 10
I re set to default the I/O settings in PT ...
Did you do this on each tab on the I/O dialog? If not, go back to the I/O dialog and click the "Default" button on each tab. I don't know if it's mentioned in the manual, but the "Default" button only resets the defaults for the tab it's on... Good luck!

Re: Saffire pro 40 shows only 1/2 outputs in PT 10
I would start with EGS' suggestion and leave ASIO4ALL as a last resort. Also agree on the VIA firewire being an issue(on my last Asus build, P8P67, the onboard FW would not work at all. An approved SIIG card worked okay(but the rest of the computer proved to be a dog for PT).

Re: Saffire pro 40 shows only 1/2 outputs in PT 10
YES!
Thank you so much for the quick reply and links to all the pages. I had already installed the Saffire 3.0 update BUT I forgot the playback engine setting...OOPS! ... and vio'la, it's all here. I will look at the fire wire card next if troubles follow me...I also need to know if setting a logon as a user instead of admin / and / using the group settings to limit access to things like backround and drive access is going to cause troubles with PT 10. That's my next step in setup. I am volenteering my studio to some kids from the B&G clubs as a mentor and want to limit my headaches when i switch between pay studio and not. Thanks Again a million times John 35thst.com |
