Committing Amplitube to audio?
I've got a bunch of guitar tracks I've recorded with Amplitube and I want to commit the processed sound to audio ( freeing up CPU ). Assuming that I can't record back onto the original track, I bussed out to a new stereo audio track. Amplitube only opens onto a stereo track and when I look at the edit window, the original track looks like a regular mono track (with individual L&R panning) whilst the new track is visibly split. Why do the two stereo audio tracks look different?

Re: Committing Amplitube to audio?
I'm not sure if I compltely understand your question...but I'll try and answer.
I'm assuming that Amplitube is on an Aux track. The aux track doesn't have the split look that a regular stereo wav track will. You'll notice that you never see a wav file in the Aux track. It's just a device the signal goes through. |

Re: Committing Amplitube to audio?
Amplitube is on an audio track processing a clean guitar sound without commiting the processed sound to disk. The wave file looks mono, despite the fact that Amplitube only opens on a stereo track. I'm bussing the processed sound to a stereo audio track to commit the processed sound to disk and the processed wave file is split L&R. Perhaps Amplitube records a mono file but has stereo outs for modulation / reverb playback?

Re: Committing Amplitube to audio?
Your recorded guitar audio is a mono wave. No processing is done from the inserts on an audio track's inputs (inserts are "post-tape"), so your audio file is a recording direct from the hardware input.
The output of amplitube is stereo. No way I know of to change it. When applied to a mono track it will change the track's output assignments to stereo to facilitate it's need for two channel output, but will not alter the recorded wav at all. Pro Tools treats stereo tracks as two voices; L & R (which is what a stereo track is, left channel and right channel).

Re: Committing Amplitube to audio?
Hey thanks Spkguitar - think I ended up answering my own question anyway! So if I don't use the stereo fx in Amplitube, I could buss out to a mono track which would mean I could copy my automation over too, right?

Re: Committing Amplitube to audio?
I can do that with Amplitube LE, yeah. As long as it doesn't change the output assignments of the mono track, it should work fine.
