random latency

I seem to be having latency problem.
Im tracking a bass but at times its in the pocket at times its way out.
Im not the world best player but I can play better than that.
I have played with all the usual settings. I usually mix in 512 unless otherwise needed . Tracking Im at 128 but I can still feel the latency when I play and even more on playback. Iv never had latency problems before, I tracked the guitars just fine now latency is making me unable to record anything even close to in the pocket. Seems and feels like random latency on playback.
Iv never felt latency while tracking since the digi le stuff .
Im sure its just something I'm not doing correctly but I don't know what it actually is.

Get the same thing now and then. Have you turned off delay compensation?

No I haven't .
I am also tracking sending my actual track through a bus and a effects send off that bus to a native plug. I know all those things cause latency so maybe I should try the most direct approach possible. Iv never had this problem before so it is sort of confuzzleing
