Default Mac Mini 2014

Hello,

I have a Mac Mini 2014 and want to run Pro Tools 10 or 11. The Avid site doesn't list this hardware as supported but I was hoping someone else here could advise me?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer,

Mac Mini 2014

Processor: 2.6GHz

2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) with 3MB on-chip shared L3 cache

1TB (5400-rpm) hard drive

8GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 memory
Two Thunderbolt 2 ports (up to 20 Gbps)
Four USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps)
HDMI port
SDXC card slot
Gigabit Ethernet port
Audio in port
Headphone port
IR receiver

Hi,
This info is everywhere.

The latest mini was hobbled with an i5 processor compared with the previous i7 model. (Apparently it was too close to a Mac Pro)
You can probably use it, but will need a fast external audio drive.
I have a friend who just set up an HD Native system on a new mini and ended up getting a faster computer after a lot of frustration.

You could probably run smaller sessions on it, but start adding instrument tracks and you will be in trouble.

Sorry, but this is what I have seen in real life.

Hi,

I'm actually about to look for a new computer to run my HD Native system on and found this thread.

Right now I'm running an older Mac Pro with PTHD 9.

The two options I'm looking at are Hackintosh or a Mac Mini. I would love to buy a MacPro and if it had a PCIe slot I may have considered it.

I was looking at the 2.6 i5 that is $699. Anyone have any experience with this?

Well, no PCIe on the mini either. and limited to 16 GB memory (Good for some).

However if you go the mini then get the i7 Maxed with Flash boot and memory.
Or consider pumpin' up a 2010-12 silver tower with SSD's, Video GPU and Memory.
