Which version of pro tools for 2013 or 2014 Macbook pro?
Hi guys, newbie here.
I used to own a 2010 macbook pro and used pro tools 8 with an mbox mini. I no longer have this laptop but I still have the mbox mini. I want to get back into making music so I want to buy a refurbished 2013 or 2014 macbook pro & install pro tools. Is the latest version of pro tools compatible with a 2013 or 2014 macbook pro? Does the latest pro tools require an mbox? If so does it have to be the latest mbox or is it compatible with an mbox mini from 2010? Thanks! Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

Additional Resources
Look for this link up top and follow to the Compatibility pages. Its going to be dependent on what version of OSX is installed

Re: Which version of pro tools for 2013 or 2014 Macbook pro?
The question really is what version of Pro Tools do you want/have a license you have or can purchase/upgrade to. Make sure you understand the license options and annual support/upgrade costs. Pro Tools 12.8.3 (the current latest release) is a nice looking release (on Mac, may be some niggles on Windows). Gets you all the latest features and will run and be officially supported in High Sierra and Sierra. All of which should run on your MacBook. You can also rent monthly if you just want to confirm it work OK before purchasing.
The thing you need to do is check OS compatibility with any third party plugins, other apps you need, and interface driver compatibility. --- If you are looking at Retina MacBook Pros get the largest internal Apple SSD you can, you can usually audio sessions and plugins off those fast internal PCIe SSDs. Non-retina MacBook Pro have much slower SATA drives internally... although on the 15" non-retina MBP ones you can install two 2.5" SATA SSDs internally, one replacing the optical drive.
