Default pt9 new services? macdrive8d.exe?

just installed new pt9 and new mbox 3 yesterday and ive a few new services showing up.

i understand them all except for the macdrive8d.exe service.

i undertstand its a digidesign service but why do we need it? can we stop running it?

I think it's needed to read Mac-formatted drives with Win7.
It's installed when you click the "Mac OS Drive Support" (or similar) option.
I guess you don't need it if you don't plan to connect external Mac drives.

sweet. thanks.

sorry, shoulda been clearer, im aware of what it is just a little confused as ive never seen it on a pt install before. i actually use mac drive for transfers but i never read a session from the discs so ill just get rid of it.


on a side note, its funny that a lot of pt9 stuff still has the digi name attached

Why would you get rid of MacDrive? It actually works and makes moving sessions between Mac and PC go really smooth BTW, its a checkbox during the PT install and you can choose not to install it.

sorry, i meant i'd get rid of the digi service as i already use full macdrive.
