Default Recording multiple individual mics for dummy track

I would like to record my whole group through different mics at the same time. I have enough channels, but when we record, everyones mic blends all the music together rather than having separate audio. For example, if i would record drums, i have 6 different mics for each drum. (Snare,Kick,Tom,Tom 2, Hi Hat, Overheads). If i record a drum track and later want to just hear JUST the snare and mute everything else, the rest of the drums will still play. Seems like all the mics are just conjoining all the sound instead of separating the different mics if that makes any sense.New to pro tools 12 and really do not know much about this. Can anyone help!!!?????????

What do you mean "record a drum track"? You are recording separate drum tracks, one for each microphone you have right?

More details might help, what interface, mic preamps and mics are you using? Mics positioned where? Screenshots of the mix window showing IO assignments may help.

You are trying to record each mic to a mono audio track right?

If you just want to hear one track, you would normally use the solo button?

Is this happening while tracking or during playback. If during tracking are you using hardware/outboard monitoring? Pro Tools track solo/mute will not change what you hear there (this is my first guess at what you may be doing wrong).

With no experience micing and tracking a full drum kit may be a bit ambitious. Especially if the band is having to sit around while you debug/learn stuff. Hopefully you have done a little reading up on this/have time to debug alone or just with the drummer.

Are you using a mixer? If so, you'll need to use direct outs for each mic into PT.

Could it be the leakage you are hearing from the other mics??

I think you are recording all tracks to that same channel?
