Default Midi Notes Doubled

I was just wondering if anyone ran into this same problem. I have a Fatar Studio 90 plus connected to JV880. When I record MIDI, i get 2 notes stacked on top of each other, one is the regular one which I see, the other is hidden behind the original one which is like a circle and a x in it. Do you know what I'm talking about? Thanks

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Maybe you have selected "midi merge"? Thats the thing on the transport controls midi section wich looks like two line merging.

MIDI MERGE is off. It seems like a midi loop or echo, but I just cant figure out how to get rid of it.

Thanks

If you're using a combo patch on the Roland this problem can occur because multiple channels will be outputting MIDI.

I'm assuming you're using the 001's MIDI port- try connecting the out of the Fatar to the in of the 001, and then the out of the 001 to the in of the Roland. You'll have to enable midi thru and also record-arm a midi track assigned to the 001's midi out to get the signal back out to the Roland.

But that's the correct procedure for cabling a MIDI studio, and if you expand with a MIDI interface down the road, it'll serve you well.

Here's the setup-

MIDI OUT (FATAR) MIDI IN (DIGI 001)

MIDI OUT (DIGI 001) MIDI IN (JV 880)

MIDI THRU (JV 880) MIDI IN (PROTEUS)

MIDI IN (EMU ORBIT)

I dont think I am using a combo patch on the Roland. Fatar suggested that I use MIDI Thru on the 001 but is there one?

Thanks
