Anybody using Korg Kronos with midi actually working?

I've tried both - straight USB and USB-MIDI Adapter. The Mac finds the Kronos on both, but still no MIDI signal found by PT.

I don't like that in Peripherals I can only choose HUI then my MIDI I/O. It says 8 channels available. I guess it wants to view the 8 channels of sliders/knobs/buttons which I don't need. I have surfaces. I just need PT to see MIDI in and out so I can record.

Personally, I do not like the way PT handles MIDI at all. It is weird and unlike any other DAW I have used handle it. Still, I have to get ot to work somehow. I will check the settings again in Global and post soon.

MIDI CLOCK - changing any of these had no effect on signal

Internal - On

Receive Realtime Commands - On

MIDI Routing

Vector MIDI Out - On
Vector Joystick - On
Vector CC control - Off

Pads MIDI Out

Pad CC/Note - Off
Chord Notes - On

Karma Ext Routing


Enable Karma Module to MIDI Out - On
Enable MIDI In to Karama - On
Enable Start/Stop in Prog/combi - Off

MIDI FILTER

All options are enabled

SEQ MIDI Out Setup

Song Track is set to "for master"
Param edit is set to "Cconrtol change"

Drum Track MIDI Setup

Prog MIDI Ch - 10
Prog MIDI Out - On

So, that is all there is to control from the MIDI setup in the Kronos. I use OS 3.0.2 in the Kronos.

Basic:
What is Convert Position?

MIDI Clock:
I would set Auto MIDI to On...

MIDI Routing:
What is Vector?

Karma Ext Routing:
What is Karma?

MIDI Filter:
If all Options are enabled, does that mean you are filtering everything?

Drum Track MIDI Setting:
I see you have it set to 10, does setting it to 1 have any effect?

Since we seem to have not gotten it to work with the settings yet, let's look at your physical layer.
How is your MIDI connected?
USB port on Mac -> USB to MIDI converter --
->DIN MIDI Cable Out -> DIN MIDI Port In on Kronos
->DIN MIDI Cable In <- DIN MIDI Port Out on Kronos

None of the ideas so far have worked. I am a pretty seasoned DAW user, but only in Windows. Only 2 months with my Mac. I had a boneheaded issue a couple of days ago with buses, so I don't mind someone telling me to read up, even though I am pretty lazy when it comes to that, since I have used DAWs for so long. Manuals make me sleepy, then I can't write or record

I can simplify things right now by telling you guys the following:

I did some testing using my USB to MIDI adapter (the cheap plastic one that has USB on one end and a Double-DIN for I/O on the other). I have signal in Cakewalk Rapture on my Windows machine. So, the issue of whether my Kronos is able to send MIDI is solved. But when I connect to my Mac, whether direct, or on powered USB2.0 hub, there is no signal in PT12.

I will clarify what I did in PT so maybe someone can see if I made a simple error:

After making sure Audio/Midi Setup sees my USB/MIDI adapter I go into PT and check my MIDI Input devices and Peripherals and activate the USB/Midi in and out:

1. I setup an instrument track with Xpand2 in insert A
2. I tick the record button on the track so I can see signal - if there was one
3. I set the MIDI Input on the track to receive from my Kronos USB/MIDI adapter transmitting on Ch 1 (and then all channels - doesn't matter because there is no signal)
4. I set the MIDI to return on Ch 1 or to go to Xpand2 Ch 1 - (doesn't matter because there is no signal/sound).
5. I setup my Alesis DM10Kit the exact same way and I have signal to Xpand2, but it is useles because all notes are staccato, since it is a drumkit

So, I deduce there is a problem with PT recognizing my USB/MIDI adapter. If it was a USB issue I would not be getting MIDI from the Alesis USB.

The good news is that I don't need to worry about is being my multi-thousand dollar Kronos causing the problem. It works fine in Windows. The bad news is that I have no other keyboard controller an my PT does not use the USB/MIDI, even though it finds it.

I hope this is making sense to someone who has been here and can help.

I just confirmed my USB/MIDI adapter works in GarageBand as it is set up. Has to be a PT bug or something, I guess? What else can it be? Midi works on instrument tracks with other controller (DM10Kit) and other DAWs.

Does my PT hate my Korg Kronos?

Reason why i asked is that I wanted to be sure that you had setup the AMS (mac for midi studio) and that also you had selected the instrument you had created in the AMS on the midi input selector of the instrument track. once that is done you should see (if all work) the midi velocity meter light up when you press a key. The MVM is located beside the midi input selector. It's a very small meter in the instrument section of your instrument track.
