Default Need help on peripheral cable -- pinouts?

I teach at a university, where (for budgetary reasons) I'm installing a legacy Mix Plus 6.x system on a Mac G4. Unfortunately, the 888 and 882 boxes I bought on eBay came without peripheral cables, and rather than shell out $80 for the Digi 60/50 cable, I obtained the correct jacks and built my own.

Problem: I installed Pro-Tools, but get an error message asking me to turn on my hardware (even though it's already on). I built the cable assuming Pin 1 on the 60-pin end should connect to Pin 1 on the 50-pin end. Was I overly optimistic?

Help! Would someone be willing to unplug their 60/50 cable and test a couple of pins to see if it's a straight 1-1 connection, or if it's more complex than that?

Thanks much!

Are you talking about the Peripheral I/O cable ?
If so you may have to spend more than $80 if you get it wrong.
You can find them on eBay from time to time for not too much.
But they should have come with the I/Os and the cards. The cables are part of the system.

thats a complex cable and not a pin to pin layout and besides that the cable is a high bandwidth cable and needs to be wired in pairs so how do you figure the internal wire structure ( TX-RX ) matching twisted pairs.
I cant see a tech assuming anything with a cable of this type
you are assuming you know
the correct cable type,
the correct pin-out and pairing, and
that you would not potentially blow a LSi chip when you plug in this basically randomly made cable

good luck

I have one or two laying around for $50 ea.
