Re: Amid coronavirus restrictions, would you pay to see a gig on your phone?
Isn't that how kids at concerts watch now anyway, judging by how many phone screens are held up all show?
I've paid for a Devin Townsend "concert" he put on in support of some hospitals. It was kinda neat. Interesting how he had it all jerry-rigged up. If I'm watching an online concert though, it isnt going to be on my phone. Either on my computer with studio monitors or my TV/AV setup. Joel

I paid $5 to watch a bunch of Aussie comedians do a Zoom rooms stand up gig a couple of months back. Cheapest fun night I’ve had in a while.... the beer was cheap too from the local bottle’o. But I watched it on my iPad.

How is that any different than other PPV events offered on cable?

Same approach, but for a common cause. PPV might raise money for members of our music industry who now have no work. But can a wall of windscreens replace a crowd? https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...-starved-bands Zoom fatigue and an awkward in-between: theatre can't wait to be back onstage Distancing rules mean reopening isnt viable yet. Meanwhile, the (virtual) show goes on https://www.theguardian.com/stage/20...e-back-onstage Cold, hard facts: Whilst the Global coronavirus cases pass 8 million and American deaths surpass 118,000, Social Distancing should be maintained. I understand the economics and the subsequent rush to get-back-to-work, but we should carefully assess lifting the lock-downs, as the 2nd-wave is now evident in many countries that have recently eased their rules. Meanwhile, the music industry must explore all avenues open to us, as the purchase of luxury items such as music and movies is now, more than ever, under the spotlight

Re: Amid coronavirus restrictions, would you pay to see a gig on your phone?
This current mob should be kicked from office for the way they have treated the entertainment industry in Australia. Yet they’ll jump at the chance to get a selfie with those they have cut off or take up free tickets and bill the taxpayer for hotel and travel expenses. They should have that robo-debt algorithm pointed back at them.
