don't think there's an upgrade to the ES version available

it's only cosmeticly changed as far as I know

Not sure I'd call it an upgrade. To me it's like trying to look at white text on a black webpage. I'd be worried that it would be hard on the eyes.

I tend to prefer the "vintage sound" of the classic blue-faced Icon. It's "warmer", "fatter", "grittier", "bigger", "rounder", "tube-ier", handles transients better, puts off less heat, is more solidly built and has more "tone".

Wow very quick

What made you decide on the Command rather than the Control (other purely the price ?)

I'm trying to decide myself, and the key points which made you chose one over the other would really help me.

best regards

the integration is much better than my Control 24 especially the compressor and EQ section will help for quick fixes. also the quality of faders, response times and readout is soooo much better.
Also the added features for controlling what's on the table made me decide.

I had to wait for a ES version due to the design of my control room. The darker color suited better with the desk and the color of the control room (it would break the whole sphere when there's a GRAY looking desk in there) and honest the new color enables much better vision !

and If I could effort the REAL Thing (D-Control) I would not hesitate !

I do hope I can expand the system maybe later with an additional 16 fader so I can have it from 24 to 40 tracks. This will be great feature if the HD software could handle this for the D-command. This way also you could have group faders one side and track faders the other (like the big consoles )

If you can effort the D-control I would not hesitate! just make sure you have the room big enough (depth is important - It’s a big console) . I rather have more faders accessible than having to limit the amount of faders due to pricing. this was my mean drive to go to a D-command rather than the D-Control.

Pictures of my new Control room (with still the good old Control 24 !)

Philippe.

Philippe,

Well I also have a Control 24 (with a replaced power supply !!), so agreed will be great to change.

Would love to have the Control (16 faders) but think it will be just a little too much, and for the extra control can't see how I could justify, but I'll try....

Let us know when you get it.

regards
